摘要: Abstract The two-stage process for thermophilic bio-hydrogen production followed by methane was examined on a hydrolysate obtained from oil palm trunk (OPT). optimum conditions lime pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis of OPT loading 0.2 g Ca(OH)2/g-OPT, time 60 min, temperature 121 °C enzyme 35 filter paper units/g-OPT. A maximum total reducing sugar yield 473 mg/g-OPT obtained, which 2.7-fold higher than that untreated OPT. used as substrate Thermoanaerobacterium thermosaccharolyticum KKU19 in the first stage. hydrogen potential 2179 mL H2/Lsubstrate under 16.5 g/L initial concentration, pH 6.7 54.5 °C, respectively. Acidic effluent to produce second stage 272.4 mL/g-chemical oxygen demand (COD) achieved. resulted energy 10.6 kJ/g-CODadded with 83% COD removal.
