The electrochemical copolymerization of pyrrole and bithiophene on stainless steel in the presence of SDS in aqueous medium and its anticorrosive performance

摘要: Abstract For the first time, electrosynthesis of poly(pyrrole-co-bithiophene) copolymers (P(Py-co-BT) I, II, III) was carried out using potentiostatic technique on stainless steel (SS) electrode from aqueous oxalic acid solutions containing fixed concentration bithiophene (BT) and different concentrations pyrrole (Py) in presence sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS). Corrosion protection behaviors these copolymer-coated steels were investigated 3.5% NaCl solution by potentiodynamic polarization, Tafel test electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Among protective copolymer coatings, P(Py-co-BT) which obtained polymerization 0.025 M Py, exhibited best against corrosion. Hence, only this characterized cyclic voltammetry, FT-IR, UV–vis, conductivity measurement differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) comparing with those polybithiophene (PBT) polypyrrole (PPy) homopolymers. It determined that polymer polypyrrole-based copolymer. The incorporation BT units into PPy chains not increased dry but also developed toughness polymer.
