Trauma Exposure, PTSD, and HIV sexual risk behaviors among labor migrants from tajikistan

摘要: Little is known about the role of trauma and PTSD symptoms in context migration-associated HIV risk behaviors. A survey Tajik married male seasonal labor migrants Moscow was completed by 200 workers from 4 bazaars 18 construction sites as part a mixed method (quantitative qualitative) study. The mean PC-PTSD score 1.2 with one-quarter scoring at or above cutoff 3 indicating likely diagnosis. directly correlated both direct indirect exposure, but did not predict either sexual behaviors protective behavior associated higher exposure. some indicators increased caution (e.g., more talking partners condoms; use condom when drinking). Qualitative findings were used to illustrate differences between traumas terms risk. study call for future efforts address migrant’s mental health needs integrate dimensions into prevention.
