摘要: In this study, the nature and extent of transverse cracking in asphalt pavements on I-70 Kansas was determined. A pavement investigation conducted to determine effectiveness fly ash slurry injection (FASI) method (a crack stabilization procedure) eliminate or minimize depression (bump) caused by depressed cracks. The intent FASI is fill subsurface voids at severely distressed cracks delay reflective cracking. initial objective study find a low-cost “maintenance” approach improve ride filling their associated depressions. variety products application procedures were attempted, with variable results. Most attempts had recracked within year, depressions soon followed. Ten sections test constructed using under existing adjacent cracks, followed cold milling, in-place recycling next 4 in., hot recycle action, mix overlay. Pavement roughness values before after rehabilitation action compared. Roughness (right wheel path IRI [in./mi], westbound eastbound) plotted for each year since 1988. results indicated that more extensive procedure, which involves milling overlaying asphalt, has provided several years excellent service these ten western Kansas.
