摘要: Abstract Male canaries, Serinus canaria , sing a special phrase (‘A’) that elicits very high levels of sexual display in conspecific females. This is characterized by the repetition complex but brief two-note syllable. We tested responsiveness female canaries to these A phrases, extracted from eight male repertoires. Five phrases elicited copulation solicitation displays suggest females may use rapid temporal patterning distinct notes syllables assess quality. These be an honest indicator male's condition and thus attract arouse
