摘要: ABSTRACT Moisture-induced damage in petroleum asphalt pavements, which results a loss of pavement tensile strength, is significant contributor to performance problems such as rutting, shoving, flushing and cracking. Results the present study provide fundamental information on some chemistries moisture-induced damage. Model compounds containing polar chemical functional group types found asphalts were used simulate adsorption-water displacement characteristics molecules mineral aggregate surfaces. A comparative interpretative discussion model compound studies earlier actual asphalt-aggregate mixtures presented. Carboxylic acids confirmed type most strongly adsorbed surfaces; however, they also easily water displaced. Pyridine-type functionality similar that reduced sensitivity moisture damage....
