摘要: Following severe peripheral nerve injury (PNI), regeneration is often insufficient and functional recovery incomplete. Any agents that limit the spread of neural tissue damage may enhance regeneration. In this regard, statins have been shown to neuroprotective properties. We investigated effects Lovastatin against sciatic crush in male Wistar Rats. or vehicle was given parenteraly rats for 7 days postoperative. treatment groups, a single dose agent (2 5mg/kg) administered daily. The control group same manner. were subjected left with non-serrated clamp 30s. Behavioral, electrophysiological morphological alterations evaluated during experimental period. Results showed 5mg/kg could significantly (P < 0.05) accelerate process recovery. Also results demonstrated morphometric parameters such as mean axonal number myelin thickness higher (5mg/kg) groups compared controls 0.05). These findings suggest short-term course can protect injury. Findings indicate postoperative administration led motor function model rats. This effect might be due anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory anti-oxidative properties Lovastatin. It clear more research needed confirm these findings.
