摘要: Abstract New technologies like hydraulic fracturing and directional drilling have ushered in a boom of domestic oil gas production the United States. Oil often occurs close proximity to where people live work, creating potential for significant quality life impacts. In this review, we integrate across diverse literatures develop holistic account how development might impact host communities. Our review suggests that effect is complex, as it can provide economic growth beleaguered rural areas but also degrade human health, environmental other deleterious We conclude by suggesting directions future research.
