Au–NiOx nanocomposite for hot electron-assisted plasmonic photocatalysis

摘要: Nanocomposites of metal–oxide semiconductors containing Au nanoparticles are emerging multifunctional materials for sunlight-driven highly efficient photocatalysis. Here we report a solution-processed nanocomposite synthesis Au–NiOx films by slot-die coating and plotter printing in straightforward situ approach. Our study demonstrated significantly enhanced photocatalytic decomposition reaction MO upon exposure to sunlight simulator. The excellent activity is ascribed the generation hot carriers after LSPR excitation NPs. Suitable band alignment between valence NiOx Fermi level NPs leads extraction corresponding holes layer. This results longer lifetime generated electrons drive photodegradation methyl orange generating reactive oxygen species (ROS). We found free radical capture experiments that ˙O2− was major ROS reaction.
