Efficiency and competition of Islamic banking in Malaysia

摘要: Purpose – In an attempt to enrich the literature of efficiency Islamic banks, this study aims empirically investigate fully fledged banks as well windows in Malaysia.Design/methodology/approach This measures technical and cost‐efficiencies these using non‐parametric frontier method, data envelopment analysis (DEA).Findings The findings show that, on average, overall banking industry has increased during period study. also revealed although were more efficient than windows, they still less conventional banks. Finally, foreign found be domestic banks.Originality/value will provide some empirical insights how two modes had fared competitive environment from 1997 2003.
