摘要: Several studies indicate the importance of colonic microbiota in metabolic and inflammatory disorders diet on composition. The effects alcohol, one prominent components diet, bacterial composition is largely unknown. Mounting evidence suggests that gut-derived endotoxins are cofactors for alcohol-induced tissue injury organ failure like alcoholic liver disease (ALD) only occur a subset alcoholics. We hypothesized chronic alcohol consumption results alterations gut microbiome subgroup alcoholics, this may be responsible observed state endotoxemia Thus we interrogated mucosa-associated 48 alcoholics with without ALD as well 18 healthy subjects. Colonic biopsy samples from subjects were analyzed using length heterogeneity PCR fingerprinting multitag pyrosequencing. A have an altered (dysbiosis). dysbiosis had lower median abundances Bacteroidetes higher ones Proteobacteria. appear to correlate high levels serum endotoxin samples. Network topology analysis indicated use correlated decreased connectivity microbial network, alteration seen even after extended period sobriety. show persistent correlates
