摘要: As tends to be the case in other large, developing countries, Mexico is a nation of strong meteorological, hydrographic and social contrasts throughout its territory, which impact various strata population different ways. The current paper seeks show how these create water-security scenarios using pertinent indices. While some factors, such as precipitation, drought floods, are intrinsically probabilistic nature, others related vulnerability. There have been small number studies on water security at global or regional scale that include Mexico, local level but none them consider aspects vulnerability, neither extend municipal level. A methodology was defined this paper, applied obtain index, considers concepts risk, hazard Hazard comes form supply drainage shortage, flooding, pollution, quality, groundwater depletion indicators. Vulnerability factors educational population, access health services, illiteracy, housing conditions, unemployment proportion indigenous language population. All indicators very heterogeneous Mexican territory. proposed geographic information system environment, it used indices for all municipalities (2456 municipalities).
