摘要: Stevia rebaudiana (Bertoni), commonly called candy leaf or sweet leaf, endemic to South America, is an important medicinal plant. As a source of low calorie natural sweetener 'stevoside', it used in obesity, diabetes, treatment heartburn and tooth decay, also serves as food supplement. Large scale commercial propagation S. demands suitable protocol. Here, we propose improved protocol for vitro multiplication from nodal explants. In this protocol, the effect laboratory grade urea on multiple shoot induction explants was studied. The were initially cultured Murashige Skoog (MS) basal media 2 weeks which facilitated axillary bud break. Further, culturing these MS medium fortified with 6 benzyl amninopurine (BAP) (2 mg/L) Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) (1 .without (5 period 40 days revealed maximum production 44.56 single explant supplemented compared 22.44 without urea. differences number shoots produced significant readily rooted NAA (4 mg/L). Primary secondary hardening successful plants. There no visible morphological abnormalities observed micropropagated plantlets. Genetic analysis random samples that plants are genetically uniform. advantage present complete process induction, rooting could be completed within months existing protocols.
