摘要: U2-type and U12-type introns are spliced by distinct spliceosomes in eukaryotic nuclei. A classification method was devised to distinguish these two types of based on splice site sequence properties used identify 56 different genes containing available genomic sequences. occur with consistently low frequency diverse taxa but have almost certainly been lost from C. elegans. Comparisons homologous sequences demonstrate subtype switching U12 between termini AT-AC GT-AG as well conversion provide evidence for a fission/fusion model which the splicing systems evolved separate lineages that were fused progenitor.
