摘要: Based on data collected during regular, biconical trap sampling of Glossina palpalis (R.-D.) over two and a half years after insecticide programmes in Ivory Coast, various analytical techniques were developed which allow the estimation mortality rates life-time fertility from ovarian age distributions female flies. Data trapping-out experiments used to calculate natural resilience local populations. The results reveal that dynamics populations showed considerable variation, with major types sites. At those sites large numbers domestic pigs, fly population was dense high degree low mean rate, so it could be selfsustaining through reproduction alone. few scarce lower higher rate such only maintained by continuous input immigrant Studies tsetse can predict likely effectiveness alternative control schemes; must permanently increased order reduce or infection below some threshold for disease transmission.
