Thermodynamic and structural analyses and mechanisms of the crystallisation of multi-alkane model mixtures similar to petroleum cuts

摘要: Abstract Thermodynamic and structural analyses were carried out by X-ray diffraction differential thermal as functions of the temperature on multi-alkane samples whose distribution mole fractions shows a shape ‘exponential decreasing’ type, observed in petroleum cuts. Nine samples, number normal-alkanes, C n s, varied from 15 up to 23, studied with continuous distributions going 22 –C 36 series 14 series: corresponding respectively first s two terminal is always last each mixture differed previous sample addition lighter −1 . At solid state according literature, , 21 20 are two-phase thermodynamic state, 19 three-phase, broader four-phase mixtures numbers s≤11, single-phase. Thus, crystallise phase, where thickness molecule layers compatible their own chain length. The results allow for extracting recurring properties these types during crystallisation, clarify molecular mechanisms involved phases, order appearance behaviour course cooling liquid state.
