摘要: The concept that ectomycorrhizal plants have a particular foliar trait suite characterized by low nutrients and high leaf mass per unit area (LMA) is widely accepted, but whether this can be generalized to all clades unclear. We identified 19 evolutionary of used global traits dataset comprising 11,466 samples across c. 3000 species test there were consistent shifts in or LMA with the evolution ectomycorrhiza. There no effects status on 17 ectomycorrhizal/non-ectomycorrhizal pairs for which we had sufficient data, some groups having higher other lower nutrient than non-ectomycorrhizal contrasts. Controlling woodiness host did not alter results. Our findings suggest concepts plant suites should re-examined ensure they are broadly reflective mycorrhizal clades, rather reflecting few commonly studied groups, such as Pinaceae Fagales.
