摘要: Important advances in experimental and theoretical methods for the study of surface phenomena have been made last decade. A modern treatment adsorption gases on solids can now include as a significant theme considerations quantum mechanical behavior electrons atoms at surfaces. The primary objective here is to discuss processes nature adsorbed layers terms phenomenological models concepts that arise from comparative interpretation information well emerging connection between these established principles chemistry physics. In latter regard, recent developments theory semiempirical calculations are also discussed examine what insight may be achieved data directions suggested future work. secondary provide guide critical recently published work illustrative important concepts. Although major effort achieve sufficient breadth present an accurate perspective, subject by its requires good deal selectivity focus coherency. We do not attempt make complete review or detailed account historical development field. intention cogent representative introduction state subject.
