摘要: In this study, we carried out a GM evaluation of the functional correlates scapular variation in African apes using GPA applied to landmark data and compared our findings with previous results based on linear measurements obtained digital calipers. Scapular size shape vary between Pan gorillas, while gorilla subspecies differ only shape. Shape is significant comparisons all three groups, greatest degree difference observed two subspecies. There is, however, no systematic pattern differentiation that maps predictably differences frequency suspensory or arboreal climbing behaviors. We conclude relationship morphology locomotor behavior, at least apes, not compelling one. Our generally confirm patterns subspecies, by investigators conventional distance measurements, demonstrate mutually informative nature other methods analysis when used address questions biological variation.
