摘要: Migratory marine species cross political borders and enter the high seas, where lack of an effective global management framework for biodiversity leaves them vulnerable to threats. Here, we combine 10,108 tracks from 5775 individual birds at 87 sites with data on breeding population sizes estimate relative year-round importance national jurisdictions seas areas 39 albatrosses large petrels. Populations every country made extensive use indicating stake each has in international waters. We quantified links among populations these threatened seabirds regional fisheries organizations (RFMOs) which regulate fishing seas. This work makes explicit responsibilities that RFMO shared biodiversity, providing invaluable information conservation migratory realm.
