‘Health is their heart, their legs, their back’: understanding ageing well in ethnically diverse older men in rural Australia

摘要: Older men from ethnic minority communities living in a regional town Australia were identified by government-funded peak advocacy body as failing to access local health and support services and, more broadly, being at risk of not ageing well. A qualitative study was undertaken explore the wellbeing growing older rural community, identify barriers they faced accessing appropriate range different perspectives. Individual interviews conducted with key informants (service providers community leaders), followed focus groups four communities. The this showed signs that poor mental physical health, experienced significant services. Furthermore, environmental, technological, social economic changes have brought challenges for age. Despite these challenges, demonstrated how work, family identity integral lives men, was, many ways, resource. Key informants' perspectives mostly confirmed experiences study. discrepancies their views about extent health-promoting behaviour indicate some areas future intervention, research.
