摘要: The Transportation Science and Logistics (TSL) Society Dissertation Prize Competition is the oldest most prestigious competition for doctoral dissertations in field. 2006 TSL dissertation prize committee consisted of Professor Michel Bierlaire (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne), Ann Campbell (University Iowa), Alan Erera (Georgia Institute Technology), Donald Hearn Florida), Mark Hickman Arizona). Eligibility was limited to completed between June 1, 2005, May 31, 2006, general area transportation science logistics. To be considered, a must have been nominated by author's thesis supervisor. This year we received 26 nominations from 24 universities 10 countries, representing such diverse areas as vehicle routing, scheduling, traveler behavior, activity analysis, logistics, supply chain management. This year's pool exceptional both its breadth depth, showing remarkable theoretical practical insights into many very interesting problems With large number submissions their quality, it not easy select first place winner an honorable mention. I would like thank authors, advisors, part this effort recognize honor field's outstanding researchers. Awards were announced at meeting INFORMS Pittsburgh. Perhaps without saying, theses are distinguished fact that they award. Each makes unique valuable contribution all entrants advisors deserve our sincere congratulations.
