摘要: I compared dung beetle communities and assessed some of their functional effects (dung removal, seed burial, seedling establishment) in continuous forest with those 1-ha 10-ha fragments Central Amazonia. followed the fate seeds until establishment for three native tree species, using clean surrounded by dung. The had half number species captured fragments. sites similar individuals, but beetles were twice as abundant. Mean size increased increasing area. Dung removal burial rates higher than Seed predation In all sites, proportion seedlings established from vs was same, it same When comparing that remained on floor buried beetles, a percentage latter. Conservation programs aim to maintain regeneration ability must incorporate important components involved establishment; Amazonia these include secondary dispersers. It is studies start measuring directly not only first-order fragmentation also higher-order effects.
