摘要: The static aerodynamics for the Mars Exploration Rover (MER) aeroshell are presented. This aerodynamic database was an integral part of end-to-end simulation used in pre- entry analysis determining MER design requirements development system, as well targeting landing sites. constructed using same approach Pathfinder (MPF). However, is much higher fidelity and tailored to trajectories. set data includes direct Monte Carlo calculations covering transitional regime trajectory computational fluid dynamics describing hypersonic supersonic continuum regimes. An overview methodology generate given along with comparisons important features MPF related heritage data. comparison indicates that specific required properly model flight characteristics a.blunt capsule at Mars.
