摘要: A simple method has been developed to quantitatively measure the ground state oxygen atom, O(P3), density. The technique exploits cavity-enhanced spectroscopy probe relatively weak O(D1)←O(P13) transition near 636nm. O(P13) densities of approximately 3.4×1014at.∕cm3 were measured in an inductively coupled plasma produced within a high-finesse optical cavity, and minimum detectable atom density 1.3×1012at.∕cm3 was determined. absorption profile yielded translational temperature 453K. can be readily extended other atomic species.
