摘要: Recent methods developed to generate and analyze internal waves in laboratory experiments have revealed important insights that sometimes guide challenge theoretical predictions the results of numerical simulations. Here we focus upon observations generated by oscillatory or uniform flow over a solid boundary continuously stratified fluid. In such flows are often examined moving an otherwise stationary ambient. This can be done oscillating towing object, sequentially series plates simulate translating standing-wave-like boundary. The visualized measured using non-intrusive optical method called synthetic schlieren. takes advantage changes refractive index with salinity which differentially bends light passing through salt-stratified fluid, property hampers use more standard observation as particle image velocimetry. From schlieren images, filtering applied distinguish between leftward rightward well upward downward propagating two-dimensional waves. Inverse tomographic techniques employed measure structure amplitude axisymmetric relatively simple three-dimensional disturbances.
