摘要: Seawater desalination represents an alternative solution to face the challenge of water scarcity in Chile. However, uncertainty toward potential environmental impacts plants represent a barrier achieving sustainability and socioeconomic development This study aimed assess quality monitoring plans (EMP) determine aspects be improved within it, order enhance management during operation phase guarantee sustainable activity. The Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) Studies for seawater projects published Evaluation System (SEIA) Chile between 1997 2018 were reviewed. results brine production from showed significant increase last decade (about 1.6 Mm3 per year estimated according approved or under implementation). EMPs data show heterogeneity increasing requirements over time, which can attributed governmental effort improve protection. Furthermore, high frequency irrelevant descriptors was identified current EMPs. thus recommended standardizing included based on empiric scientific knowledge protection programs
