摘要: Environmental watering is frequently used to achieve specific ecological objectives, such as triggering spawning or seed germination. These short-term objectives are often met, but longer-term population growth, may not be, especially where multiple hydrological and non-hydrological factors influence success. We propose a framework identify these in space time. Our steps users through identifying possible inhibiting (strictures) supporting (promoters) factors, placing their spatial temporal context. This allows potential limiting that require additional intervention, render the original action unsustainable. illustrate with examples of floodplain tree (black box, Eucalyptus largiflorens), colonial nesting waterbird (royal spoonbill, Platalea regia) large-bodied migratory fish (golden perch, Macquaria ambigua). The explores strictures promoters for major life-history stages, emphasising need support protect all stages if include maintenance growth. In this way, can document existing mental models be basis risk portfolio, prioritisation tool future quantitative models. Thus, enables individual management actions better grounded broader context, increasing likelihood achieving long-term objectives.
