Charge-cloud alignment in the electron-impact excitation of 138Ba(.6s6p 1P1).

摘要: We have determined charge-cloud alignment parameters [ital P][sub l]][sup +] and [gamma] for electron-impact excitation of the (6[ital s][sup 2] [sup 1][ital S][sub 0]) to s]6[ital p] 1]) transition in 138]Ba by measuring superelastic scattering electrons from laser-excited 138]Ba. Four energies were studied scattering-angle coverage each case was sufficient allow observation pronounced structure behavior these parameters. Comparison our measurements with two distorted-wave theories [R. E. H. Clark, J. Abdallah, Jr., G. Csanak, S. P. Kramer, Phys. Rev. A 40, 2935 (1989); R. Srivastava, T. Zuo, McEachran, A. D. Stauffer, B 25, 3709 (1992)] reveals generally excellent agreement except at lowest impact energy where fail completely reproduce observed +]. Our low-impact-energy data also been compared a close-coupling calculation [I. I. Fabrikant, Izv. Akad. Nauk Latv. SSR, Ser. Fiz. Tekhn. 6, 11 (1985)] which qualitatively reproduces but fails give quantitative agreement.
