摘要: Washington harbor seals (Phoca vitulina richardii (Gray, 1864)) are currently managed as two stocks: Coastal Stock and Inland Waters Stock. Previous analysis of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in showed four geographically genetically distinct populations. In this study biparentally inherited nuclear DNA, we analyzed nine microsatellite loci on 482 samples unweaned pups from locations State the US-Canadian transboundary waters to determine if there were differences gene flow between males females. We found same populations maternally mtDNA: Coast, north Waters, Hood Canal, south Puget Sound. recommend that coastal stock remain is, but should be three rather than one.
