摘要: Study objective Atrial fibrillation is a significant public health problem that becoming increasingly prevalent. The clinical epidemiology of US emergency department (ED) visits for atrial uncertain. This study seeks to describe recent trends in ED fibrillation. Methods with primary diagnosis were analyzed using data from the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey, 1993 2004. Results During 12-year period, there approximately 2.7 million (95% confidence interval [CI] 2.4 3.0 million) United States, and population-adjusted visit rate increased 0.6 1.2 per 1,000 population ( P trend=.02). Similarly, absolute number 88%, 300,000 CI 209,000 392,000) 1994 564,000 423,000 705,000) 2003 Approximately 64% 59% 69%) these patients admitted hospital, remained constant throughout period trend=.73). Admission rates significantly lower western region States (48%; 95% 36% 60% versus 76%; Northeast, 68% 84%). Patient characteristics management did not materially differ by admission status. In multivariate model, congestive heart failure was only predictor but accounted 14% admissions. Conclusion From 2004, increased, whereas proportion hospital stable. similar regardless status, relatively few predictors admission.
