摘要: OBJECTIVES This study was intended to 1) identify preoperative predictors of difficult laryngoscopy and 2) determine the role obesity in difficulty obtaining adequate laryngeal exposure. METHODS A prospective undertaken 63 patients who were undergoing elective direct laryngoscopy. Thirty-six met criteria (body mass index at least 30 kg/m2). Measurements height, weight, neck circumference Mallampati Cormack-Lehane scores obtained. The ease exposure recorded by attending surgeon on a visual analog scale (VAS; 1 10). Difficult (DLE) defined as VAS score 3. candidate morphological investigated. RESULTS Obesity found be DLE (p < .001). positively correlated with body = .007), weight .05), .001), Among obese patients, .01), whereas nonobese showed significant association both .02) .01) scores. CONCLUSIONS Obese those 2 posed significantly higher risk DLE. Preoperative identification potentially airway may aid surgical planning allow more effective communication collaborating anesthesiologist.
