摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter introduces many of the basic concepts involved in measurement radionuclides. It describes methods by which radionuclides are detected and quantified. There different ways to measure radioactive nuclides environmental samples. The oldest still most common use decay itself. They techniques detecting ionizing particles released during decay. ‘‘activity,’’ number disintegrations per unit time, is evaluated quantitatively terms how atoms disintegrate gram or cubic centimeter sample called ‘‘specific activity.’’ Normally, but not necessarily, these specialized kind radioactivity (alpha, beta, gamma radiation), they certain properties radiation, such as radiation particle energy. field laboratory known “radiometry.”
