摘要: When animals are preexposed to a stimulus without consequence they subsequently slower associate this with an important event, such as footshock. This retarding effect of preexposure is called latent inhibition and can be demonstrated in variety classical instrumental paradigms wide range species, including man. Latent disrupted acute schizophrenics by amphetamine treatment both rat The present study investigated the role hippocampal 5HT terminals using conditioned suppression procedure male Sprague-Dawley rats. Microinjections 5,7-dihydroxytryptamine fornix-fimbria significantly reduced indoleamine levels attenuated suppression. finding supports hypothesis that destruction mesolimbic 5-hydroxytryptamine reduces inhibition. result discussed terms possible involvement serotonergic function schizophrenic attentional disorder. In addition predicted lesion effect, biochemical analyses indicated experimental treatments altered neurotransmitter turnover: utilization ratios for and/or dopamine were increased relative nonpreexposed four six brain regions sampled.
