摘要: Research on mimicry has demonstrated that individuals imitate in-group members more strongly than out-group members. In the present study, we tested whether such top-down modulation also applies for extreme forms of direct mapping, as cross-contextual imitation settings, in which others' movements without sharing a common goal or context. Models self-other control suggest modulations are based merely link between social sensory processing and imitation. That is, perceived similarities oneself another person is sufficient to amplify shared representation own actions, then trigger However, motivational accounts explain findings with assumption motivated affiliate others. Because linked positive consequences, should We these two theoretical against each other by applying paradigm. The results demonstrate cross-contextually imitated higher individuals' motivation is. This supports models but not accounts. Further implications discussed.
