Knowledge about COVID-19 and patients’ beliefs about and use of herbal products during the COVID-19 pandemic: a cross-sectional study in Saudi Arabia

摘要: ABSTRACT The lack of treatment options for COVID-19 has raised many concerns among populations worldwide, which led to attempts find alternative prevent the transmission disease or alleviate progression infection, including focusing more on preventive measures (to other individuals) and use natural products herbal extracts increase immunity decrease probability getting infected. This study explored knowledge population Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA) about their belief consumption prevention infection. A total 5,258 individuals participated in this study. Participants’ appropriate terms handwashing procedures, self-quarantine social distancing was moderate, with a mean score 5.5 (SD: 1.7) out 10 (representing around 55.0% score). About 22.1% (n= 1,161) participants reported that they have used nutritional supplements during pandemic period, protect themselves from disease. Social media Internet (39.4%, n= 372) were main motivators try products. Vitamin C most commonly food supplement reduces chance contracting COVID-19.
