摘要: In this study, we successfully explored the effect of steric hindrance on one-pot reaction different aryl aldehydes with malononitrile and N-substituted 2-cyanoacetamide in presence piperidinium acetate as catalyst. It involved Knoevenagel condensation aldehyde to produce arylidene an intermediate, which was further treated give 6-amino-2-pyridone-3,5-dicarbonitrile derivatives when less bulky group involved. High changed earlier route gave 2-cyanoacrylamides via a slower route.
