摘要: Abstract Newark, a metropolitan industrial town, experienced the highest infant mortality of any major city in United States 1960s and early 1970s. Between 1970 1973, however, among non-whites this declined strikingly. This decline could not be directly related to declines (a) birth rates, (b) proportions babies low weight, (c) born mothers unfavorable age groups, (d) general fertility or (e) illegitimacy rates. The may have been removal from childbearing cohorts group females population--as yet undefined--whose would at high risk mortality, falling rate, better postnatal care--or all these factors. study data suggest multifactorial basis for precipitous also that further reductions both nonwhites whites will require definition causes weight.
