摘要: Quantifying economic damages and restoration measures for injuries to coral reefs has been a difficult task. In the U.S., habitat equivalency analysis (HEA) emerged as novel tool that combines biological information identify replacement habitats of an appropriate scale substitute interim losses resulting from reef injuries. This article provides review basic principles underlying HEA discussion important considerations in applying HEA. These include: how describe functions related human uses, recovery rates organisms at injured sites with natural active restoration, selection growth these habitats, role time discount analysis. While offers many advantages, specific decisions made application process can have dramatic effect on cost decisions. Management agencies scientific community need be involved developing standards quantifying projects planning.
