摘要: Sleep and waking are the two major functional states which in homeotherms can be unambiguously identified by both behavioral electrophysiologic criteria. closely associated with rest activity. The circadian rest-activity rhythm is present organisms usual criteria for sleep cannot applied (e.g., invertebrates). In fact, may have evolved from of activity whose propensity modulated pacemaker. It has been argued that emergence brought an increased flexibility loosening control pacemaker over behavior enabling a need-dependent recovery (Borbely Neuhaus, 1979). particular intensity dimension viewed as allowing to fulfil its putative functions without disrupting sleep-wake rhythm. As will shown, there evidence sleep-wakedependent aspects regulation based on separate mechanisms.
