Electronic structure of iron in magnesium silicate glasses at high pressure

摘要: [1] A recent study attributed the source of an iron partitioning change between silicate melt and minerals at deep mantle conditions to a high-spin low-spin in iron, which was found Fe-diluted Mg-silicate glass similar pressure. We conducted X-ray emission spectroscopy nuclear forward scattering on iron-rich glasses high pressure 300 K diamond-anvil cell: Al-free up 135 GPa Al-bearing 93 GPa. In both glasses, spin moment decreases gradually from 1 bar does not reach complete state even peak pressures this study.
