摘要: Objectives: To present the technique of extended subcranial approach to anterior skull base and review results in 55 patients who underwent procedure. Study Design: Retrospective records between 1994 1998 for treatment various neoplasms originating nasal cavity, nasopharynx, paranasal sinuses, orbit, or meninges, as well repair complex craniofacial trauma and/or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak. Preoperative patient evaluation surgical are also reviewed. Methods: Patient were retrospectively reviewed tabulated age, sex, indications procedure, with special focus on early outcome complications. Results: Twenty-six oncologic resections, 22 had reduction fronto-naso-orbital fractures, seven CSF Significant complications group consisted one hematoma requiring needle aspiration two cases temporary nontension pneumocephalus. In fracture group, died because extensive intracerebral damage multiorgan failure, pneumocephalus coupled leakage The most common late complication all three groups was anosmia. Conclusions: Based their review, authors conclude that is a safe, versatile, effective procedure pathological conditions involving base.
