摘要: Abstract The phototrophic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas capsulata was found to be capable of growing chemoautotrophically under aerobic conditions in darkness. Growth strictly dependent on the presence H2 as source energy and reducing power, O2 terminal electron acceptor for transduction, CO2 sole carbon source; optimal generation time about 6 h. Chemoautotrophically grown cells showed a relatively high content bacteriochlorophyll intracytoplasmic membranes (chromatophores). Experiments with various mutants R. capsulata, affected transport, indicate that either two oxidases this can participate energy-yielding oxidation H2. The ability multiply at least five different physiological growth modes suggests it is one most metabolically versatile procaryotes known.
