摘要: Abstract Thin film model catalysts are very useful in heterogeneous catalysis because they easily characterised by electron microscopy. On the other hand, single crystal studies under clean conditions have contributed significantly to understanding of structural effects hydrocarbon reactions. For some reaction systems experimental agreement between crystals and dispersed is good, but for most demanding reactions a rather poor correlation observed. This problem was tackled preparing ‘oriented’ thin (Pt/Al 2 O 3 ) as an intermediate approach island films. The films consist nearly perfect micro surrounded carrier exposing only one plane ambient. treatment oxygen hydrogen necessary induce catalytic activity leads generally facetting surface, introducing steps specific surface sites. basis microscopic data, it discussed how these treatments can influence structure oriented non-oriented Experimental kinetic data concerning both hydrogenolysis methylcyclopentane isomerisation neopentane on Pt/Al reviewed, connection selectivity tentatively established.
