The prevalence and self-reported consequences of cocaine use: an exploratory and descriptive analysis.

摘要: In this study, prevalence rates for cocaine use were estimated by sex and race, as well selected social role lifestyle characteristics, including educational level, martial status, living arrangements, job type employment status. Prevalence based on an estimation procedure that made the age-race-sex distributions balanced to of nation a whole. Data gathered from multi-site probability sample adults interviewed in 1981-1984 part National Institute Mental Health Epidemiologic Catchment Area Program (ECA) (n = 14,333). addition use, self-reported consequences generated, level use. Striking differences found education marital which remained after controlling age respondent. Respondents who employed full-time had higher than those not. Individuals residing households at time interview 6.4% lifetime vs. hospitalized respondents (22%) incarcerated (40%). Cocaine consequence varied greatly across survey sites, with tolerance (28%-51%) withdrawal sickness (8%-33%) figuring prominently among sustained daily users.
