EFFECT OF PAPER QUALITY OF LOCALLY MADE ANTIBIOTIC DISCS ON ANTIBIOTIC SENSITIVITY OF SOME CLINICAL BACTERIAL ISOLATES

摘要: The effect of paper quality four different types on antibiotic sensitivity some clinical b acterial isolates was investigated using the disc diffusion method antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Ant ibiotic discs were made from Whatman No.1filter paper, Copyman printing Conqueror and Star- foolscap paper. Their difference in weight, thickne ss, absorbency texture determined testing carried out with their d iscs against Staphylococcus aureus ,Escherichia coli Pseudomonas aeruginosa , to determine any zone diameter due qualit ies. Discs No.1 filter gave inhibition 3mm larger than other also within limits publis hed standard for interpretation by Clinical Lab oratory Standard Institute. Statistical analysis variance showed a significant diameters p roduced various as indicated high ratio (F-ratios, 79.73).
