摘要: Abstract Ocimum basilicum L. exhibits a great variety of cultivars grown for various purposes. The aim this research was to analyse the chemical composition 85 O. accessions cultivated throughout world using gas chromatography (GC/FID and GC/MS). All were previously categorized into six morphotypes based on 24 morphological traits: True basil, Small-leaf, Lettuce-leaf, Purple basil A, B C morphotype. A total 77 volatiles observed, with seven them being in concentrations higher than 10% at least one accession (1,8-cineole, linalool, linalool acetate, methyl chavicol, eugenol, trans-methyl cinnamate, trans-α-bergamotene). Based essential oil accessions, we propose intraspecific characterization five chemotypes: (A) High-linalool, (B) Linalool/trans-α-bergamotene, (C) Linalool/methyl (D) Linalool/trans-methyl cinnamate (E) High-methyl chavicol chemotype. Groups biochemical traits do not necessarily coincide another. Due diversity, both characterizations are crucial effective management germplasm collections facilitate use future breeding programs.
