Addressing the Problem of Indigenous Disadvantage in Remote Areas of Developed Nations: A Plea for More Comparative Research

摘要: It has been well documented that Indigenous populations in developed 'post-colonial' nations (such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States) experience disadvantage a number of areas when compared with their non-Indigenous counterparts. Despite (or perhaps because of) range policy initiatives political approaches to addressing disadvantage, there continues be poor understandings what 'works' under conditions. There is body literature which compares conditions, ideas across jurisdictions, but bases for comparison are poorly described, insufficient linking research into 'ideas' outcomes, engagement people research. This paper proposes more rigorous approach comparative based on principals partnership participation people. We conclude designed participatory can not only provide new insights old problems, improve people's access global knowledge systems.
