摘要: The clinical histories of 46 cases chordoma seen and treated at Memorial Hospital from 1930 to 1965 are reviewed, including 30 sacral origin, ten vertebral five sphenoidal one extranotochordal, with an age range 2 1/2 years 71 a male sex predominance 32 14. Only three patients in this series alive free disease 5, 13 16 after diagnosis treatment the absolute 5-year survival rate freedom is only 8.7%. Complete surgical excision can result cure few selected sacrococcygeal or but incomplete removal tumor spillage wound certain lead recurrence probable metastasis death. When radiation therapy employed, either alone preoperatively, symptomatic relief be expected some regression least for time. In those tumors that show radioresponsiveness repeat x-ray dosages may prove extended benefit. authors conclude distant local more common than ordinarily considered therapeutic doses supervoltage irradiation pre- postoperatively could subtantial benefit management uncommon disease.
