摘要: Recognizing the need to share resources and distribute computing among systems, computer manufacturers have been designing network components communication subsystems as part of their hardware/software system offerings. A manufacturer's general purpose structure must support a wide range applications, topologies, hardware configurations. The Digital Network Architecture (DNA), architectural model for DECnet family implementations, has designed meet these specific requirements create communications environment heterogeneous computers comprising Digital's systems. This paper describes Architecture, including an overview its goals structure, details on interfaces functions within that structure. protocols implementing DNA are described, motivations designs, alternatives tradeoffs, lessons learned from implementations. protocol descriptions include discussions addressing, error control, flow synchronization, flexibility, performance. concludes with examples operation.
